LIVE BLOG - So You Think You Can Dance
returns tonight with Auditions in Atlanta.
Judges for Atlanta are Mary Murphy, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and guest judge Debbie Allen.
First up was 18 year old Audrey Case
. She was a Contemporary dancer and was very flexible. She got a ticket straight to Vegas.
Next were 3 dancers that lived together in a house full of dancers.
Up first was Boris Penton. He danced Hip-Hop. Everybody loved his routine and he got a ticket straight to Vegas.
Up next was Joshua Alexander. He was a Contemporary dancer and was fabulous. I really liked him a lot. His moves were big but very well controlled. He made it straight through to Vegas.
The next guy was a Karate specialist. He won a ton of championships in Karate. 21 year old Tim Konkel was a B-Boy and he carried around a Selena Gomez backpack. The judges thought his tricks were great but wanted to see more dancing. He said he's done Ballet for 10 days so Nigel asked him to demonstrate what he had learned. Apparently, it was enough to earn him a trip to Vegas.
Jackson Alvarez, a B-Boy/Hip-Hop dancer was up next. He did some dance call the Wobble and Nigel asked people who knew how to do the Wobble to get up on the stage and a bunch of people came up and they all did the Wobble, including Debbie Allen and Nigel. They sent him to the choreography round.
Up next was a Belly dancer, 23 year old Janelle Issis
. Mary thought she is a star. The other judges liked her too and she was sent to the choreography round.
It looks like the Wobble is currently trending on Twitter. Debbie Allen is also trending.
Up next was Danielle Dominguez. She is a Contemporary dancer and apparently she really likes bacon. She eats it 5 times a week. Her mom was a cheerleader and she got into dance from cheerleading. The judges liked her and compared her style to Sonya Tayeh's choreography. She said that she loved Sonya. The judges said, they would like to see her dance with season 4 contestant Mark Kanemura
. They sent her straight through to Vegas.
Up next was 21 year old Hip-Hop dancer Andre Rucker. He's a housemate with Boris Penton. His isolations were sick. He made it straight through to Vegas.
Cyrus "Glitch" Spencer
was the 3rd housemate of the two previous housemates. His routine had more comedy in it but I liked Andre better. Nigel disagreed with me and said Cyrus topped Andre. Cyrus made it straight through to Vegas.
The Wobbler and Belly dancer made it through choreography.
We are back for day 2. There was a girl in line that looked like Cat Deely. She welcomed us to the 2nd day of SYTYCD.
Up first was 18 year old Contemporary dancer Courtney Kirby. She brought her grandma along and Nigel brought her to the judges table. She was very good but a little bit vanilla. Debbie wanted to send her to Vegas and Nigel wanted to see her do choreography. Mary had the final judgment and sent her to Vegas.
Up next was 19 year old Hip-Hop dancer/Breakdancer Asher Walker. He wants to be a backup dancer for Justin Bieber. Mary said he wasn't the best Hip-Hop dancer but he knows how to entertain. He earned a ticket straight through to Vegas.
Up next was 18 year old George Lawrence II
. He did a very good Contemporary routine with some excellent strength moves. He made it straight through to Vegas.
A contemporary dancer whose first name I didn't catch but I think her last name was Ruiz, made it through to Vegas.
Calvin Turner Jr made it stright to Vegas.
Aubrey something made it straight to Vegas.
20 year old Contemporary dancer Brittany Ortner was up next. Apparently, there are a lot of live chickens running around in her town. It would be even more scary if there were dead chickens running around in her town. She was pretty good and the judges sent her to choreography.
Two dancers who got a lot of heat for using somebody else's choreography last year were up next. Cat made them swear on SYTYCD DVDs that they were sorry. They said it was a misunderstanding and they did say that they were paying tribute to Les Twins but it was not shown on TV. They showed the unaired scene where they said that. Wait, SYTYCD has a DVD? Damon Bellmon & Deon Lewis danced a fun Hip-Hop routine.
Deon got cut in choreo but Damon made it. Brittany made it.
Next week we're in Salt Lake City. It was a pretty good show. I think my favourite from this episode was Joshua Alexander. I really liked Andre Rucker as well.
