Posted by nobody on July 28, 2010

LIVE BLOG -- So You Think You Can Dance continues tonight as the Top 6 perform for America's votes.

The judges tonight are Adam Shankman, Mia Michaels and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. Also on the judging panel tonight is guest judge Toni Redpath.

Kent Boyd

Partner: Anya Garnis
Style: Cha-Cha
Choreographer: Jean-Marc Généreux" & France Mousseau
Song: "My First Kiss" by 3OH!3 feat. Kesha.

My Thoughts
It was pretty good. I didn't feel it had anything exciting in it and I agree with Mia that there was a lot of stop-and-go movements so it wasn't very fluid.

Robert Roldan

Partner: Kathryn McCormick
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey

My Thoughts
Yay for Adam giving Kathryn praise! I love that a routine is never just dancing for Stacey Tookey. Nice touch on the story twist. Kathryn was technically flawless and the softness of her movements are just so gorgeous to watch. This is actually the best that I think I've seen Robert dance. I thought he did a great job.

Jose Ruiz's Solo

Song: "Giant Squid"
Phone #: 1-888-6-BEST-01

AdeChike Torbert

Partner: Courtney Galiano
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Tyce DiOrio
Song: "Mantega"

My Thoughts
I wasn't really impressed by this. I thought the dancing lacked energy or excitement or something.

Lauren Froderman's Solo

Song: "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin
Phone #: 1-888-6-BEST-02

My Thoughts
I thought it was a really strong solo by Lauren this week. A really nice display of strength and control.

Jose Ruiz

Partner: Comfort Fedoke
Style: Hip-Hop
Choreographers: Marty something and someone else.

My Thoughts
I thought the choreography was cute and the dancing was great by Comfort.

Billy Bell's Solo

Phone #: 1-888-6-BEST-03

My Thoughts
Something different from Billy this week. There was more of a performance in it than typical solos. I thought it was kind of cool.

Kent Boyd's Solo

Phone #: 1-888-6-BEST-04
Song: "A Song For You" by Elliot Yamin

Lauren Froderman

Partner: Allison Holker
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce DiOrio

My Thoughts
I thought Lauren did a good job. Allison wasn't as sharp as she normally is. It was a tough routine that required a lot of energy as well as putting in a performance. They did a good job.

Robert Roldan's Solo

Song: "A Beautiful Mess" by Jason Mraz
Phone #: 1-888-6-BEST-05

Billy Bell

Partner: Ade
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: "Mad World"

My Thoughts
Awesome routine by Stacey Tookey, even better than the first one. Billy has really grown and has become more of a complete dancer since he got the tough critique in his routine with Kathryn.

Kent & Jose

Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Spencer Liff

My Thoughts
I agree with the judges that Kent is a natural in Broadway. Jose, not so much. He did an OK job for being untrained.

Lauren & AdeChike

Style: Foxtrot
Choreographers: Jean-Marc Généreux" & France Mousseau
Song: "Fever"

My Thoughts
I agree with Nigel that it looked like it was part Jazz. I'm happy that Toni Redpath is there because we finally get real Ballroom critique.

Billy & Robert

Style: Bollywood

My Thoughts
I thought that was really good. I agree with Mia, I also like pizza. I thought Billy was sharper than Robert but Robert did a good job as well.

Ugh... Lauren's being looked at by the medic Someone's just going to win by default from not getting injured.

For me, the number by Billy and Ade was the high point of the evening. Pity, though, that there was not more attention given to the presence of Ade. Each dancer was excellent, but it was the combination and contrast that lifted the number to another level.
