SYTYCD UK Season 1 Ep2 - The Top 14 Perform

So You Think You Can Dance UK continued last night as the Top 14 performed for Britain's votes.

I thought it was a pretty good show. I was expecting it to be worse because I didn't spot any outstanding dancers in the first episode.

I loved the Lyrical Hip-Hop with Lizzie & Mark. That was my favourite of the night. Loved the choreography and they both danced and performed it brilliantly.

I thought Chris was actually better in the Samba than Hayley. I don't know Samba technique but her movements seemed kind of wishy-washy compared to his.

I'm really glad that that fourth judge pointed out that Charlie wasn't that great. I thought she looked like a Jazz dancer.

I loved Chloe in the Contemporary. Not impressed with Gavin at all.

For some reason, I think that Robbie is The Chosen One (or at least Nigel's chosen one).

Well you were very right about Charlie! I haven't caught up on the auditions but from what I've seen I'm not sure why she's there. I thought her partner Tommy wasn't too bad though.

I like Alastair, I wish they hadn't paired him with Mandy, it just doesn't work for me at all (and she hasn't impressed me). I also like Chloe, she outshone Gavin. I thought Chris was better than Hayley too. She looks so much like Chanelle! Lizzie and Mark were good but then that was their style, am interested to see how they go in other genres. Robbie hasn't impressed me.

Overall, I'm going to wait and see how the season progresses but the first show wasn't that great. I have an interest in the show being from the UK myself so am surprised to see that the love of dance over there seems to have waned, honestly dance was always massive over there so I expected a lot of technical dancers. I think what I'm experiencing with US season 6 and this UK season is I'm still burnt out. I hope my love for the Aussie version will renew my interest a lot more!

To be honest, I thought the show was going to be horrible based on the talent that I saw in the first show so I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. I still don't have any favourites yet because I can't judge based on the routines they did tonight. Most of the people I liked were all in their own styles (Chloe, Lizzie and Mark). Lizzie and Mark got a great routine, I thought, so that helped them. I also liked Chris but according to the judges he wasn't that great. Yanet & Robbie were decent. The Jive was fun but not polished. I thought the Broadway was just there; It didn't really stand out for me. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the choreography as a whole. There was some good to decent stuff tonight. Nothing horrible.

Also, if you didn't watch US season 6, I think you should watch Kathryn and Jakob's performances. I think you would like them. My favourite is Kathryn. I think Jacob's only my 4th favourite but I think he's great in his own style.

Yeah I agree, it wasn't horrible. Plus it was the first performance show, they're just starting out so we'll so how it goes.

I'll check out Kathryn and Jakob. I was watching a few episodes then I sort of lost interest and then didn't have time to catch up.
