So You Think You Can Dance continued tonight with America making the final decision for the first time this season. Which guy and girl will they let go?
The show started off with a group routine to "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" by Billy Joel, choreographed by Tyce DiOrio. The dancers were dressed like rock stars (?) Well, they dressed in all black in any case, with some face paint.
They showed a recap of last night's show with some backstage footage. Noelle said she hoped Ashleigh doesn't get mad at her for doing a steamy Hip-Hop number with Ashleigh's husband.
Dominic from season 3 did an interview segment with the audience asking them if they knew what certain dance terms meant and if they could demonstrate the move.
First up were the girls. First to be announced safe was Ellenore. Mollee was then announced safe to her surprise. Noelle was then announced to be in the bottom 2, leaving Kathryn and Ashleigh. The girl other girl in the bottom 2 was Kathryn.
Next were the guys. Ryan was the first to be announced in the bottom 2. Russell and then Jakob were both announced safe, leaving Kathryn's old partner and her new partner. Who would be in the bottom 2? It was her new partner, Nathan.
Guest performers, Legion of Extraordinary Dancers performed next. And boy were they ever extraordinary! It was phenomenal! I think I recognized
Jamile McGee from season 1 and also, Lil' C.
Next up were the solos. Noelle, Ryan, Kathryn and Nathan performed in that order. It was strange that Noelle and Nathan performed new solos while Ryan and Kathryn performed their solos from last night. I was hoping that Kathryn would perform a new solo.
Adam said that Noelle had a breakthrough night last night and it was the first time he really noticed her. He said as a guy who hires a lot of people, she would be in front of the line.
Mary said she thinks that Ryan is one of the best Ballroom dancers they've ever had on the show. She said that whatever he's lacking in his solos, he's more than made up in his couples performances. Cat ask him if it was tough to do a Ballroom solo and he said that he can't put leg up (he then pointed to a spot over his head where I guess he was implying that Contemporary dancers can put their legs up to) but he puts everything he can into it and leaves is heart on the stage.
Mary said she was shocked that Kathryn was in the bottom 2. She said that every week Kathryn has done everything that's been asked of her and she has done it with class, style, elegance, poise and everything she, herself could ever dream to be able to dance like. She said she has the beauty of Cyd Charisse and Ginger Rogers and that there's a quality about her movement that looks so effortless that maybe it isn't transcending to the audience. She said she is sad to see Kathryn in the bottom 2 because she thinks she's amazing. Kathryn said that sometimes it's not a bad thing to be in the bottom because maybe someone needs to see her dance and they need to see that solo and that her solo was for whoever it is that needs it.
Nigel said that Nathan has been growing recently and that he should continue to grow and that any criticism they've given him has been tough love. He said that the dancers should keep in mind that people are not voting against them but people are voting for them and if they go home it's because people just voted more for other dancers.
Next, guest performer, Snoop Dogg performed a song with some (foreground) dancers, including some members of Quest Crew.
Next, the results.
The girl going home was...
Noelle Marsh
Obviously, I'm glad Kathryn didn't go home. Noelle was very upbeat about her elimination. She talked about missing everybody and everything about the show but it's going to be with her forever. Aww... I'm glad they let Noelle talk. It's moments like this that make me like the dancers more, as people, even if I wasn't a big fan of them in the competition.
The guy going home was...
Nathan Trasoras
I don't really have much to say about this elimination. I like Ryan and Nathan about the same. They actually didn't talk with Nathan so that was kind of weird.
