LIVE BLOG - So You Think You Can Dance continues tonight as one more guy and one more girl are eliminated and the Top 10 is revealed.
Some quirky Hip-Hop by Tabitha & Napoleon D'Umo, with the dancers dressed up as jesters or something like that.
First up are Ashleigh & Jakob and Karen & Victor. Ashleigh & Jakob are the first to be sent into the Top 10. Karen & Victor are in the bottom 3.
Next, it's Kathryn & Legacy and Mollee & Nathan. Kathryn & Legacy are in the Top 10. Mollee & Nathan are in the bottom 3.
Adam *does* talk a lot. He talked about how that if they make it through tonight it might be good for them to get new partners because together they might seem too immature. He also said they should be careful about what they say in their pre-performance videos because when someone says they help feed orphans in wherever or something like that and Nathan comes out and says that he like to ride his jet-ski to relax, it might not give off the best impression of him. I don't agree with what Adam is saying. Peter did volunteer work and it didn't help him any.
Up next was Ellenore & Ryan and Noelle & Russell. Ellenore & Ryan are in the bottom 3.
There was a special guest dancer from some American Ballet company. Sorry, I didn't get the name.
First to do a solo was Karen. She did a typical Latin solo. Better than last week but still not great.
Next, Victor did a dramatic Contemporary solo. It was OK. I not sure how many more different things Victor can show us that he already hasn't.
Mollee did a very acrobatic solo. I've been praising Ellenore's athleticism but Mollee is very athletic, herself. Some very nice moves but I can see people complaining that it's more gymnastics than dancing. I can understand that argument, especially this week. I thought she was more musical last week.
Nathan did an intense Contemporary solo. He did an interesting pirouette from a crouch position.
Next, Ellenore did her solo. I find it odd that with all her athleticism, Ellenore likes to do these quirky solos.
Ryan then did a typical Latin solo.
I wasn't impressed with any of the solos but none were complete disasters. If I had to choose a favourite, I might lean towards Ryan's. I did like Mollee's solo for what it was but she put too much in it and it seemed a bit desperate.
Next, special guest, Shakira performed a song.
The girl going home is...
Nigel said that the decision was unanimous. He said that for the first time someone fought in their solo, and that person was Mollee. He said that hearing the audience's screams for Ellenore, he didn't understand why people aren't voting for her. He said that maybe she needs to try to connect more with the audience and live on this planet (referring to her quirkiness). He said it looked like Karen had given up and she would be going home.
I find it hard to choose between Karen and Mollee. Initially, I liked Karen more but Mollee has shown herself to be very talented.
The guy going home is...
For the guys, Nigel said the decision was not unanimous. Nigel said that Victor has grown as a person on the show and that his solo was terrific. Nigel said that it was difficult for Ryan to compete with the Contemporary dancers when it comes to solos but he has been very good in the couples routines. And if he should stay, he should work on his solos. Nigel said Nathan came to them as a good dancer and he's stayed a good dancer and hasn't really grown. He said if it were up to him, Nathan would be going home. But he's not and it is Victor that is going home.
Victor has grown on me a little bit because he's shown that he can perform, in his last few performances but in terms of his own style, I think he's a little bit generic. I'm not too surprised or disappointed to see Victor go over the other two.
I just noticed that the eliminated dancers didn't get to say any final words. That's disappointing because usually these are some of the moments when we get to see the dancers' real character without the editing and also when some of the more endearing moments happen.
Anyway, that's it for the show this week. So you think you can comment? Please do.
